Empowerment in Education - Statewide Free Tutoring Program

Empowerment in Education - Statewide Free Tutoring Program

What problem does it solve? Children, adolescents, and adults with learning disabilities often struggle with the curriculum in schools and colleges. High-priced educational supports (tutoring) also hinder success in their educational experiences. To overcome the challenges and burdens of educational expenses, I propose a statewide free tutoring program to empower students to achieve their educational goals while embracing the learning processes. Community efforts empower students to succeed in schools and colleges. What is your solution and who does it apply to? Positive community efforts influence and empower children, adolescents, and adults with learning disabilities. I advocate for everyone to empower them with the skills and knowledge to succeed and become productive citizens. I ask the State to provide a statewide free tutoring program. Upon State approval, I would coordinate county meetings to market the saliency of empowerment in education by recruiting NJ certified teachers to volunteer their time, skills, and knowledge as tutors. Additionally, I would market the program in universities/colleges offering undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs to volunteer and provide educational supports for the students with learning disabilities. I would gather the teachers/professors' credentials, create a secured website and database, and provide Self-Help desk email address for students or parents to request tutoring. I would dispatch the tutors in-person or online (students' preferences) and open the doors of opportunities for students. What is the anticipated impact? As mentioned, students with learning disabilities will obtain the skills and knowledge to succeed in school. In return, the students will empower themselves and understand the value of education. Additionally, students will appreciate their learning processes and overcome challenges associated with learning disabilities. The overhead costs for the State include materials for marketing (i.e., website, database, flyers, brochures, posters, banners). The State will gain recognition for the statewide free tutoring program. Students from all ages (and all educational levels) will gain life satisfaction, self-esteem, and opportunities to contribute back to their communities. All in all, empowerment in education results in students with learning disabilities to reach their potentials and soar beyond their formative schooling years. Empowerment in education is a lifelong gift!

Points

I agree about teachers. We should pay them to do this. However, college students would be a great resource. Maybe we can offer internship credits.

I don't believe teachers will volunteer their time without some form of compensation. They generally go above and beyond expectations giving additional time to students and parents, and additional money for needed classroom supplies.
